Four Weeks Pregnancy: What all to be aware of

Pregnancy 25st October 2017

During the fourth week, the embryo begins to grow. The woman may perhaps start to have positive results on a home pregnancy test as soon as the 4th week of your pregnancy occurs (calculated from the first day of your last period). Dr. Nitika Sobti recommends that it is better to wait until the end of the first week after a missed period to take the test for the credibility purpose.

Pregnancy Test: If it turns out to be positive, get ready to make an appointment to see your doctor with a blood test to confirm your pregnancy. If the result turns out to be negative, make sure you take another test at five weeks. Moreover, the woman should arrange for a prenatal checkup beforehand only.

Home pregnancy tests evaluate the amount of human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) in your urine; it is a hormone created by the placenta as soon as the woman is pregnant.

The hormone starts to appear right after the embryo connects to the lining of the uterus. The HCG levels rise quickly in early pregnancy. Though most of the practitioners don't see the pregnant women till they are eight weeks down, in case you have had a history of problems in giving birth and high-risk pregnancy, you shall see a doctor as soon as possible.

Fetal Development: After the implantation of the fertilized egg, some of the cells will progress into an embryo whereas other cells will be used for the placenta. Placenta will give oxygen and nutrients to the developing embryo. A sac having fluid occupies the embryo to protect it. Initially, the brain and spinal cord start to form.

The levels of the Embryo: The first level is Endoderm (internal layer) which helps in creating gastrointestinal tract, lungs, and liver. The second level is Mesoderm (middle layer) which helps in forming vessels, heart, muscle fibers, and skeleton. The third level is Ectoderm (top layer) which makes hair, skin, teeth enamel, central nervous system, and eyeballs.

Diet and lifestyle: Avoid alcohol, smoking, and drugs that may harm the fetal development. Also, some of the medications are needed to be avoided. Limit down the consumption of caffeine to 200 milligrams a day. Prescribed prenatal vitamin having 600 micrograms of folic acid has to be taken daily as it lessens the risk of birth defects. Additional to that, amounts of calcium, iron and vitamin D, are the nutrients essential for the good development of the baby.

Emotional State: It is pretty often pregnancy incite sudden variations in woman's emotional background. The pregnant woman can become nervous, impulsive, weepy, and very delicate. Some women often vomit and feel tired.

Breasts: The breasts become swollen and mammillae become very sensitive. Such physiological changes are alike to the signs of menstruation which might be the reason why a woman stays unaware of her pregnancy.

As Dr. Nitika Sobti informs, a woman may undergo some pregnancy symptoms such as fatigue and exhaustion, these symptoms are related to increasing levels of the hormone 'Progesterone' during the first trimester. Rising hormone levels can also increase the blood flow to your breasts, making them feel gentle and sore.

Period Menstruation: Missing of periods is the indication that the egg has been successfully fertilized and attached in the uterus. The missing periods stands for "suppression", which is a key sign of 4 weeks pregnancy. Some women tend to experience bloody spotting which should not be confused for menstruation.

Although, the expectant mother might undergo some minor uterine cramping. The process 'Implantation Bleeding' begins when some of the women encounter a small amount of spotting or vaginal bleeding which is caused by the fertilized egg attached to the uterine lining. However, this spotting is the consequence of bleeding which happens after 5-6 days attaching of the embryo to the uterus.

Discharges in 4th Week: At 4th week of pregnancy, discharges become denser and more severe which is normal. Such releases are without certain color and smell. In case there is brown discharge along with blood and pain in the back, the woman should straightaway consult a doctor. Furthermore, the growing levels of estrogen could result in an intensified sense of smell. An amplified smells and odor could result in nausea and vomiting known as "morning sickness."

Also, the discharge commonly is followed by irregular pain in the lower belly and painful sensations in the back. At times, body temperature may increase as well.
