Virtue has to do with morality and benevolence is the inclination to be charitable! Being benevolent signifies that our heart is clean and pure, filled with good wishes for all; hence, our presence gives courage and hope to others. This is an act of kindness or an inclination to be kind. Benevolence is a wonderful term indicating a charitable disposition to do well in regard to others, and to act with genuine compassion and kind considerations of their needs and desires. Benevolence can be seen as optimism applied to other people and relationships. It does not consist of any particular set of actions, but a general good will towards others based on the benevolent universe premise.
Balance is not maintained by submitting to consensus of opinions. Nor is it maintained by seeking to posture oneself an equal distance from two extremes. Balance is charting a straight course based on an accurate understanding of the unchanging word. Balance is that spiritual straightness and stability that resists all influences to turn or deviate from the right path. Being balance is all about being in tune with yourself and life. Doing right things at the right time makes our life flow naturally and easily in the right direction. It resists reducing or exaggerating the truth, recognizing that error or excess in either direction, for any reason, remains error and excess.
Contentment is the greatest treasure of all. Those who have contentment have everything. Those who do not have contentment do not have anything even while having everything, because a discontented soul is always under the influence of desires. It's about embracing life, appreciating what we have, and maintaining an optimistic outlook, feeling a sense of purpose & most importantly living in the moment. Contentment means embracing a sense of satisfaction and sufficiency. It allows us to take pleasure in what we have and what we are, even life's simplest offerings. It frees us from envy and longing; thereby, making us generous. Sometimes, this virtue has been wrongly perceived and illustrated. Contentment does not mean to surrender to situations. We should never be satisfied to permit things to exist that ought not to exist. We should never be satisfied to be less than our best. There are conditions that need improving. There is progress that needs to be made. Contentment is a lesson to be learned.
Care does not allow suffering, either in the self or in the other, to prevent love from being expressed. It is the virtue that allows love to overcome its first and most fundamental obstacle, namely, inconvenience. It is never too inconvenient to love as long as one has care. The heart of virtue is love. Love without virtue remains unexpressed. A human being is, most fundamentally, one who is called into existence by love and called into existence to love. With our gentle words, true smile and patient attitude, care comes when we truly care, give comfort and hope all those around us. The inability to care, more than anything else, shows a human being to be inhuman. To care is to express humanness, to reveal love. Not to care is to place a barrier between oneself and one's own humanity. It is to remain unloving.
The basis for receiving co-operation from everyone is the stage of having good wishes. The one who has good wishes for everyone receives co-operation from everyone automatically. Feelings of good wishes for others automatically and easily create feelings of co-operation in the hearts of others. Wherever there is love, souls are constantly ready to surrender time, wealth and co-operation. So, good wishes will make them develop love and love will make them surrender all varieties of co-operation. Be the ones who have good wishes and make everyone develop love and make them co-operative. One who loves does not have to ask for co-operation. An art of recognizing the specialties of others, Cooperation or teamwork is the art of working in unison towards a common purpose, knowing that we can achieve more together than alone. Real co-operation is unlimited co-operation.
Courage is one of those virtues necessary to living a good life. This virtue is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen. This is all about being honest with ourselves and keeping our intentions pure; while not being afraid to step in new directions. A primary driver of every action, courage is something that is required at every step of life. We need courage to face the day, to get up, to start & complete our daily tasks. Courage is all about having zeal and enthusiasm. Where there is no zeal and enthusiasm, there will be tiredness, and the one who is tired will not be successful. You can always experience the flying stage constantly on the basis of courage, zeal and enthusiasm!
Thought does create our reality - our unconscious, fearful thoughts and mistrust creates things for us just as our clear conscious and more positive thoughts do. The key to 'clarity in thinking', is to be free of underlying and hidden thought patterns, which are driven by those old fears and hurts, so that when we are thinking right here and now, everything is conscious. There is nothing hidden, operating and undermining our perception of what is actually happening now. When we learn to let thoughts go, and let feelings go, and not attach or resist them, we watch many of those underlying energies and resistances dissolve, leaving us here and now, fully alert to all that is present with clarity.
When our mind is like a clear sky free from the clouds of wasteful thinking; hence, we possess an ability to see the bigger picture and understand what is appropriate for the best result.
Detachment is all about experiencing feelings without allowing those feelings to control us. As a virtue, this brings emotional safety, realism and refreshment and makes others feel free with you, free to come and go without a fuss. Although it is still easy to be detached from relationships but detachment from the desire of all objects, that is, the attraction of them remains in a royal form while becoming free from attractions. When there is a desire, no matter how much effort you make, it will not allow you to become good. To have disinterest means to have no attachment. One with unlimited disinterest is constantly loved by the Supreme; and this love makes the soul detached.
Detachment reminds us that though the change is difficult, with detachment it becomes easier, and then with patience we will find that the change was for the better.
Discipline is freedom. Lots of people disagree with this statement, because for them discipline is just a word that means excessive work and absence of freedom. This is so far from the truth! Reality is that you don't have to work hard and you don't have to do boring tasks. No one will ever force you do that.
An adoption of something larger than yourself which is guiding your attitude, Discipline is all about controlling and doing what is important, rather than being a leaf in the wind of your own thoughts or feelings. You don't lose control of yourself when you feel hurt or angry, but decide how you are going to talk and what you are going to do. With discipline, you take care of yourself. Discipline is something that requires a tangible goal, an adoption of something larger than yourself which is guiding your attitude, otherwise how do you know what's wrong or what to strive for!
The virtue of gratitude has been called a state of mind and a way of life. Gratitude shapes our entire outlook on life. It is the channel through which we become aware of the sacred, and then many blessings of our lives. Gratitude can be applied to all of our daily activities. It links us to the divine and to every other part of the creation. Gratitude is both a social and a theological virtue. The disposition of mindfulness of being aware of and thankful for our blessings, helps cultivate our virtues and significantly diminishes, or can even eradicate, any obstacles to gratitude we may face.
Gratitude is about recognizing and appreciating the gifts that life offers us every moment. This is an acknowledgment of the positive things that come our way that we did not actively work toward or ask for.
Generosity is freely sharing what you have with others. It is being willing to offer money, help or time when it is needed. To be generous means giving something that is valuable to you without expectation of reward or return. Many traditions measure generosity not by the size of the gift, but by what it cost the giver. When we intentionally "live below our means" and avoid commitment, we cultivate a sense of bounty or surplus that makes us want to share. When we give, we reap the pleasure of knowing we have made someone else's life a little happier.
Having unlimited kindness that never stops giving, Generosity reveals that our heart is merciful as god has filled it with love for everyone.
Forgiveness is to release the need to be right, even if we know we are and to focus, not on our anger, but on what's possible for ourselves and others if we make amends. When we forgive, no matter how difficult, we experience freedom from our pain and sorrow and become people who are more love-based rather than fear-based, creating a better world. Ask to be forgiven, forgive others, and forgive yourself because peace cannot exist without forgiveness. The standard definition of forgiveness makes clear that its main purpose is the re-establishment or resumption of a relationship ruptured by wrongdoing.
Love truly, forgive and let go of the past completely. Therefore, Forgiveness gives way to new beginnings and healing wounds.
Faith is the intellect means intoxicating happiness in life. Someone who has this spiritual intoxication will be constantly full of happiness in every thought. There will be this experience in all three – thoughts, words and actions. The intoxication will be visible from the sparkle of happiness on their face. It will be seen in their behavior. Your attitude should inspire others to experience an atmosphere of happiness and the vibrations of happiness.
"Faith in oneself", for example, could be defined as having a rational trust in one's abilities, without unjustifiably assuming they are useless. The key point is justification: when we exhort someone to "have faith in yourself", we do it because we believe there is good evidence they can trust, not in spite of there being none.
A greatness born from self-respect, Humility is all about living in total confidence—confidence, not in the self; but in God's love, protection, and guidance. We are aware of who we are; hence, do not seek approval, name or fame! Humility means the form of love. Those who have love for every soul will be able to remain humble. If there is no love, neither will they be able to become merciful nor will they be humble. No matter what happens, your nature should always remain gentle. This gentle nature is a sign of humility.
Humility is variously seen as an act of having a clear perspective and respect for one's place in context. Absent a religious context humility can be taken as a moral and/or ethical dimension.
When we go in silence & listen for answers. We connect and truth makes itself known to us. This is Intuition. It is a stepping into the unknown, a yielding gesture of your character for greater guidance in life. Often times accompanied with fear and confusion is this maybe the hardest thing to practice. It is a stepping into the unknown, a yielding gesture of your character for greater guidance in life. Often times accompanied with fear and confusion is this maybe the hardest thing to practice but certainly not impossible.
Obedience brings stillness. It's not the stillness of any movement, but the stillness of everything moving in the right direction naturally. There are differences in what we are to obey, and in the motive for our obedience, but the necessity for obedience is regarded as wonderful. The key to obedience is submission to God. What matters is not external adherence to specific rules, but a heart that is submitted to God. If our heart is submitted to God, then we will obey his specific requirements.
Obedience, as a virtue, is not exercised because of fear any more than we eat because of a fear of hunger.
Let go and take your time! When some people want something, they want it now. They demand to have it now. They don't have time to wait. They will take what they can get now, rather than waiting a little for something better. The ability to wait for something without getting angry or upset is a valuable quality in a person. When defined as "waiting without complaint," patience might seem to be a morally insignificant trait. In itself, not complaining carries no particular virtue. Patience is an emotionally freeing practice of waiting, watching, and knowing when to act. A patient person is mild, gentle, and constant in all circumstances.
When we say "patience is a virtue" we are exposing our moral values and expressing the importance of patience as a foundation of principle. Patience is a necessity for a happy existence and that is why the phrase is so often used.
Purity does not mean celibacy. Complete purity means that none of the vices should be touched even in thought. Those who have the personality of purity, who have the royalty of purity, will not touch that which is bad, even through their mind or intellect. The personality of purity means greatness and specialty in every action. Personality means to constantly remain busy in serving the self and others, that is, not to waste your energy, time and thoughts, but to use them in a worthwhile way.
A virtue of benevolence, Purity comes when intentions are pure, free from self-interest, egoism, desire, envy and cruelty and motives free of power, control, and coercion.
Respect is honoring the worth or dignity in a person or process. When we respect others, we take their preferences and ideas seriously. We thoughtfully weigh our own insights and experiences against theirs. Respect is merited particularly by those who are our elders, because knowledge, insight and wisdom often are hard won through a lifetime of discipline and learning. Cultivating respect as a virtue does not mean insisting that all ideas, beliefs, or actions are respect-worthy. It does mean that we recognize the basic human dignity of others, even when their ideas or values are different than our own.
A general attitude of respect also assumes that each person has something to teach us if we are willing to learn. Carrying an attitude of honoring oneself & others and caring about their rights, Respect is behaving in a way which makes life more peaceful and orderly for everyone.
Our Royalty is seen in our unlimited vision & generous heart! This is gained when we have deep love for humanity and have genuine concern that all should benefit.
SELF-CONFIDENCE
It is a feeling of confidence, being happy with your own character and abilities. It is also known as self- worth. It is more of a static character of a person. Unlike self-esteem, confidence is dynamic. It is the manifestation of the already accumulated in- dwelling self-esteem in you. Knowing what to expect and how and why things are done will add to your awareness and usually make you feel more prepared and ultimately more confident. Learning and gaining knowledge can sometimes make us feel less confident about our abilities to perform roles and tasks, when this happens we need to combine our knowledge with experience.
A personal attribute that builds a person's personality, Self-Confidence is the feeling that you can trust, believe in and be sure about the abilities or good qualities of somebody or something.
A state of being calm & composed as well as peaceful, Serenity is the tranquility of spirit and an abiding sense of trust that all is well. It's all about practicing stillness, reflection and mindfulness. With serenity and inner peace in life, it is easier to focus on the task that is at hand and not worry about things that are out of reach; more things will get done because there will be no anxiety. Without serenity and inner peace, one will worry a lot about things that are beyond their control. Constantly trying to change people or things ends up in never getting anything accomplished. A person may be uptight, off task, and have anxiety about things that are not important.
Serenity is the tranquility of spirit. It is an abiding sense of trust and faith and that all is well. Under this, we practice stillness, reflection and mindfulness.
A language of pure heart, Silence is the voice of god & the music of love. This brings the means to absorb ultimate love and strength.
Simplicity is the direct alignment with reality and it is the opposite of false and it's various manifestations including pretension, prevarication, bloviating, masquerading, exaggeration, denial, grandiloquence, falsehood, or misunderstanding. Simplicity is the opposite of needless complication, so the simple person is just they present themselves to be.
Radiating inner beauty and contentment, Simplicity is being honest, straightforward, uncomplicated and maintaining a clarity of both; mind and purpose. This is the courage to let go of anything artificial and being simply you. Simplicity means centering in on that which is important and letting go of the rest. It can mean living with few possessions and entanglements, but more broadly it is an attitude, an approach to life.
If we look at a thesaurus for synonyms for stability we find words such as adherence, assurance, backbone, balance, cohesion, constancy, dependability, determination, durability, endurance, firmness, maturity, permanence, security and steadfastness. Should not these be words that describe a mature Christian who takes his faith seriously and who is actively and intentionally engaging and actualizing this faith into his or her life? This is done primarily through seeing God in the midst of all of our circumstances.
An equally great challenge to stability is insult. Stability at its deepest is flying free of everything, resting quite above praise, but having your feet firmly placed on ground, so that you can't be charged with negligence.
The person who is genuinely tolerant does not turn his back on truth, nor does he disparage others for not having already found it. He retains his commitment to truth and respect for others as he lives in the hope that they, in their own individual way, will finally come to honor the truth that, for whatever reason, has eluded them. Tolerance comes from sensing that everything is a riddle and that all things work in cycles, that what is uncomfortable now will soon change. There is constant movement in tolerance, flexibility, because of being content with change. So, have it as a virtue rather than necessity!
Tolerance lies in retaining contentment to truth and respect for others, while sensing that everything is a riddle and that all things work in cycles; henceforth whatever is uncomfortable now; will soon change!
Honesty is seeing things on the way, facing challenges as they come, facing the challenges as they come. Truthfulness is always an expression of optimism, because the brushstrokes can be sharp. A truthful person knows that they should never judge, unless they have understood the secret of time; unless they have seen how change works and how nothing is fixed until the end.
While honesty is seeing things on the way and facing challenges as they come; truthfulness is always an expression of optimism; reflected throughout the person's character. Most of all, being truthful means not lying to oneself.
Wisdom is revealed not simply through words but through your whole way of being. Wisdom is the sense of proportion — the power to see clearly one's ends, and their relative worth; to subordinate lower ends to higher without sacrificing the lower altogether; and to select the appropriate means to one's ends, taking just so much of the means as will best serve the ends — no more and no less. It is neither the gratification nor the suppression of appetite and passion as such, but the organization of them into a hierarchy of ends which they are sternly compelled to sub-serve.
Knowledge of danger but no fear, this is an ability to spot a twist in the path; possibility of collision; to stop and wait until something has passed. This is the richness of experience folded inside you; hence its very existence is to benefit to all.
Love is the element which though physically unseen is as real as air or water. It is an acting, living, moving force… as this includes a genuine concern for the good of others with compassion, care and other noble actions!
True love does not demand but liberates!
"Peace is not an absence of war, it is a virtue, a state of mind, a disposition for benevolence, confidence, and justice." ….says Baruch Spinoza Your true nature and greatest strength, Peace is giving up the love of power for the power of love and therefore, not allowing the turbulent outside world to disturb you.
Knowledge is a virtue that we should know what is good for us. It is through knowledge that we know how to understand and we know how to act right; hence, knowledge is the creation of virtue. Knowledge is virtue!
Happiness is a long lasting enduring enjoyment of life; it is being in love with living. It is your reward for achieving a good character and personal rational values in life.
"He is happy who lives in accordance with complete virtue and is sufficiently equipped with external goods, not for some chance period but throughout a complete life." (Nicomachean Ethics, 1101a10)
Bliss is a magnified emotional state of joy, personal fulfillment and happiness. Think back to when you were a young child and, on Christmas day, you opened your presents to find you got exactly what you wrote on your list. All at once, it was a heightened sensation of excitement, joy, fulfillment and happiness that overtook you. Or can you recall a time when you came to the rescue of someone in tremendous need and their expression of gratitude filled you with a feeling of joy, fulfillment and happiness?
The concept of mind over body is that through the power of the mind and its thoughts, whether through specific exercises or our everyday thoughts, we can make our body do things that we would otherwise view as incredibly difficult or impossible. We can defy limits imposed by our bodies. It is where your consciousness and sub-consciousness combine to assist with your physical reality.
Optimism is about recognizing the hidden benefit in everything, being positive and neutral about all situations and phases.
